Porto Ferro beach
Porto Ferro is one of the wildest and most beguiling beaches in all of north-western Sardinia. This inlet is enclosed by promontories of dark-red trachyte and covered in Mediterranean maquis. It also plays host to a large pine forest. The sea offers up ever-changing shades of blue, and the entire bay enchants the eye. The grains of sand here are heavier and darker compared to those of the beaches closer to Alghero. Porto Ferro is renowned as a windsurfer’s paradise, and the summer parties in the little bar that overlooks the main beach are also rightly famous.
This site is located around 20 km from Alghero and can easily be reached by car or on public transport.
